Priestesses & Healers Art Gallery
Qadishtu

The Qadishtu, or Holy Woman, was maligned by the writers of the Old Testament and by patriarchal scholars as a “temple prostitute.” In truth she was a temple priestess who embodied the Goddess for her sexual partners. In an act of ritual lovemaking that was both pleasure and worship, she brought emotional and physical healing to her partners. Women today who call upon Aphrodite, Oshun, Ishtar and Inanna can find within themselves the secrets of sacred sexuality.
