Mananaan mac Lir

This Irish sea-god is the pilot of souls who seek the way to the Blessed Isles (the Otherworld). He can fold up his coracle, Wave-Sweeper, into the crane bag he carries at his side. When he shakes out his mantle, a mist spreads over the land. Wearing the shape of a heron, he comes to women by night as an otherworldly lover and with them conceives sea-heroes.
